Coat of many colours mosaic

You will need:
This coat template
Colour paper
Glue
Scissors

Mosaic can be tricky for toddlers so try this easy paper mosaic craft with your child.

Use this coat outline to stick on torn or cut pieces of paper to make a coat of many colours for Joseph.

Stars in the sky

Make a constellation box.
You will need:
An old box
Torch
Something to punch a hole in the box
A dark room
An old towel

Seal the box on 5 sides and have one side cut open. On the opposite end to the open side, punch a few single holes, spacing them irregularly. In a dark room, or just before bed time, shine the torch into the box with it facing a wall. A small constellation of stars will appear on the wall.

Remind your toddler of the promise that God gave to Joseph as a boy.

Chain - Joseph Crafts– slavery/prison

Even though things took a turn for the worse for Joseph – he was sold into slavery and then thrown into jail, he never forgot God. Make this paper chain craft to remind your toddler of how God is always watching over them.

You will need:
Color card
Scissors
Glue

Cut out long strips of colour card - about 20 – 30 makes a nice chain. On each one write a word that describes God’s faithfulness: real, loyal, trustworthy, dependable, faithful, devoted, good, holy, and pure.

Make your first link by bending over one strip and gluing it together, then keep linking the strips and gluing until all are done.

Bread – baker

While in prison, Joseph helped out the baker and steward with the interpretation of their dreams.

Bake some bread with your toddler and talk about the story of Joseph. Enjoy the bread when Daddy gets home with some soup.

Bread recipe ingredients:
1 package yeast
1/4 cup warm water
2 tsp sugar
1 cup milk
3 tsp salt
3 tbsp butter
3 3/4 cup all purpose flour

Egg wash
1 slightly beaten egg white
1 tbsp warm water

Mix the yeast, sugar and water together and allow to froth. Melt the butter.

Mix your dry ingredients together. Add the yeast mixture and other wet ingredients.

Knead well on a floured surface, set somewhere warm and allow to rise.

When risen, knead again. The roll out with your hands into a fat roundish sausage shape. Cut up the length of the dough with a sharp knife. Plait (braid) the dough and seal at the end with the egg mixture.

Brush the whole load over with the egg mixture and allow to rise while the oven heats up to 180 deg Celsius.

Bake for 40 minutes or until you tap and hear a hollow sound.

Wheat/grain - Joseph crafts

Joseph stored grain in the years of plenty for the lean years. Do this simple grain craft while you talk about this part of his life.

You will need:
Yellow card to print this pyramid template
Craft glue
Whole wheat kernels or another grain like barley

Once you have printed out the pyramid template, help your toddler to spread the glue and then stick on the grain.
