Preschool Science Activities

Easy preschool science activities to do with your older toddler at home.

preschool science activities When we want to teach preschool science we need to remember what Charlotte Mason had to say about this period in a child’s life. These are the few guidelines for these preschool science activities:

“ In this time of extraordinary pressure, educational and social, perhaps a mothers first duty to her children is to secure for them a quiet and growing time, a full six years of passive receptive life, the waking part of it for the most part spent out in the fresh air.”

“Let them once get in touch with nature and a habit is formed which will be a source of delight and habit through life.”

She also says that in these young years a parent’s role is to share more about something when “…he hears, asks and learns about these at his moment of interest.

But being the parents we are, we also like to create learning experiences for our children. So as you dig into my preschool science activities, be sure to look for your child’s current sensitivities to things and expand on those rather than creating false learning situations all the time.

Daily quote

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born.
She never existed before.
The woman existed, but the mother, never.
A mother is something absolutely new.
